As our Dallas hotel moves into its next phase of partial reopening, Virgin Hotels Dallas located in the vibrant Dallas Design District, is taking an artful approach to welcome locals and visitors alike while encouraging guests to practice social distancing. An inventive new installation, Together Again: Reconnecting Through Fashion and Art curated by fashion consultant Kristen Cole will debut on Friday, May 29, comprising 12 mannequins styled in colorful, expressive pieces from notable fashion designers. Those designers include 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Christopher John Rogers, young designer and Vogue favorite Marina Moscone, 2019 CFDA womenswear designer of the year nominee Rosie Assoulin, and CFDA Swarovski nominee and milliner Gigi Burris along with vintage pieces from Archive Vintage. Beyond staying six feet apart, this installation displayed in vignettes throughout various public spaces of the hotel celebrates coming back together through several thoughtful contemporary artworks aimed to cultivate conversation.
A number of new pieces of art will debut as well including a collection of surreal fashion photographs throughout the ground-level restaurant, bar and lounge, Commons Club by Manolo Campion. Other works placed throughout the property include a large-scale multi-media sculpture by Katie Stout, a multi-media installation from Austin based Andy Coolquit and neon and LED hanging sculpture from Texas-based Adela Andea.
With the hotel located in the Dallas Design District, we wanted to do something artistic, bold and characteristically Virgin to promote social distancing in the hotel,” said Teddy Mayer, Vice President of Design of Virgin Hotels. “Instead of removing furniture or roping off areas, we thought bringing in stunning mannequins to supplement limited capacity requirements would be more upbeat and lively. I’m thrilled that Kristen Cole took on this challenge as she brought it far beyond my expectations.”
“I selected joyful and bright fashion and art pieces that celebrate life and coming together for this Virgin Hotels installation,” said Kristen Cole.
